The Prevention and Control of Infection
Course overview

The Prevention and Control of Infection, Level 2 course is a fully funded, nationally recognised qualification. It aims to give individuals, particularly whose work is associated with the prevention and control of infection, the skills and knowledge to effectively prevent and control the spread of infection and keep those around them safe from contamination.

Participants will gain a greater understanding of:

  • how infections spread and methods of prevention
  • the importance of general hygiene and PPE equipment
  • infection identification, risks and how to decontaminate, clean and dispose of waste
  • legislation and policies surrounding infection and it’s control.

Course units

The course offers the flexibility of when and where you study through online distance learning and we’ll provide the support you need throughout the course.

Unit 1: Principles of the causes and spread of infection
Unit 2: Infection prevention and control
Unit 3: Decontamination, cleaning and waste management.
